EcoIgnite #4 - "Drill, baby, Drill"

One of the most important junction for the world is around the corner.

The US Elections - Trump vs Harris.

This election by far will be the most important of multiple elections held in this year.

Some recent developments from the Republican candidate, Donald Trump, drew my attention which would have a huge impact for all of us.

Trump being very famous in India, stated India as 'abuser' of trade but PM Modi as 'fantastic'.

But this post is not about Indians, but all of the human beings, or more particularly all creatures on earth.

Part #4 of the #EcoIgnite series, It's about the denial of science by the nation built on the bricks of science and technology.

Trump, getting huge support (40%+ as per opinion polls), denied the scientific claims related to climate change, and stated it as an hoax.

"He has suggested that fossil fuel executives should raise $1 billion for his presidential campaign, promising in return to unleash further oil and gas drilling and cut environmental regulations."

"his domestic agenda aims to ‘deconstruct the administrative state’ from a regulatory perspective, freeing up constraints on manufacturing growth, and then use industrial and trade policy to drive growth through an energy boom based on fossil fuel extraction – echoing his mantra of ‘Drill, Baby, Drill.’"

In his first term, Trump pulled USA out of the Paris agreement, a global pact aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and limiting global warming. Trump argued that the deal was unfair to the US, favoring countries like China and costing American jobs.

"Plans to double down on fossil fuel and hold back the transition to renewable energy may, in aggregate, put Paris Agreement climate goals forever out of reach."

-------

If not science, one can just experience the change in climate with his bare senses.

As per NASA, the average temperature was abive by 1.36°C in 2023 in comparison to late 19th century and the extremes have crossed the roof and floor already.

Sahara is green, mountains are brown, desserts are experiencing floods, birds getting rarer, forests are under fire.

Climate crisis is not in upcoming future, it is now. The best time to take action was decades ago, second best time is now but with multifold efforts.
