Just one question to myself - WHY?
From Scoring 96% in 12th to scoring freaking 96 Marks in CA Exams, I just have one question for myself, why? What did you get out of this? What to do with these marks now?
The only benefit seems to be getting your resume selected or writing posts like this xD.
Jokes aside, here's my experience of cramming and scoring marks.
I scored 90+ in both 10th and 12th, 75%+ in CA Fnd & Inter and I don't remember most of the things - from chemistry bonds to trigonometry, from cramming Economic concepts to definitions in Business studies, from learning the Indian Contract Act to Accounting Standards etc etc.
But I do remember, how our chemistry teacher made soap in the practical lab, the practical examples explaining supply and demand in economics, the logic behind Accounting rules, how the money market works, how bank earns, etc.
As per my p.o.v., the difference between the above 2 statements is the real-life application of knowledge.
For eg - Studying Business studies books of 12th was boring, but learning the same concepts from Think School ® is fun.
(You can't learn how to be a great leader, or how a turnaround of a business happens from just cramming the definitions).
In our Country, from becoming a merit-based system, we have been left with just being a MARKS-BASED system where you get marks by cramming a hell lot of stuff without actually critically and analytically using your mind.
The number of marks I wrote above are not at all extraordinary, most of my friends belong to the same category and have similar point of view.
While writing this post, I would have to accept the fact that I still have to cram the syllabus of the CA Final to become a Chartered Accountant. Not only the Syllabus - I would have to cram the mistakes made by the Institute in the past as well.
If I would have to give advice to my younger self, it would be to learn for knowledge and get passing marks (fail nahi hona h xD); and MOST IMPOSTANTLY - participate in Extra-Curricular activities and HAVE FUN without taking much pressure of results - because at the end results doesn't matter much.
I remember not going for a rank in CA Inter by dropping both groups plan, but I don't regret that decision as I followed my instinct of learning outside the curriculum - learnt technical analysis, business studies, personal finance etc.
